According to BOI, two of these projects are super large data centers, designed to meet the needs of artificial intelligence (AI)-related work.
NextGen Data Center and Cloud Services, a subsidiary of Dubai-based large data center provider DAMAC Digital, will build its first facility.
The 84 MW data center is valued at $826.42 million and will be located in the Navanakorn Industrial Park in Pathum Thani province. A domestic investor, Zenith Data Center and Cloud Services, will build a 200 MW super data center at the same location at a cost of $1.7 billion.
The remaining two investors, Telehouse (Thailand) and Vistas Technology, will build their corresponding facilities in Bangkok's Huai Khwang district and Amata City Chonburi Industrial Park in Chonburi province.
Telehouse, a subsidiary of KDDI Group, has committed to investing $233.64 million to build a 12 MW data center next to the existing data center in Bangkok.
Vistas Technology, a subsidiary of China-based Zbilitiesbilities technologies, has committed $306.39 million to its 80 MW data center. This is the second data center project approved by BOI for Vistas Technology.
In addition, the Thai Investment Commission has also issued 6 licenses to launch other data center projects worth 9.2 billion USD. These projects are stalled due to problems related to power supply, access to industrial land and issuance of visas and labor licenses.
Thailand is striving to become a digital infrastructure hub in Southeast Asia. In recent years, the country has been granted investment commitments in technical infrastructure by many large technology corporations such as AWS, Google, Microsoft and ByteDance.
In 2025 alone, the data center segment alone has helped Thailand attract a total investment of up to 16.13 billion USD with a total of 28 projects.
