Posts that automatically disappear on social networks can be useful for users who have a habit of deleting their posts through third-party tools, or when the content of those posts is only valuable for a short time. .
Recently, Threads said that it is testing posts that disappear after 24 hours with a limited number of users.
Although the company has not released any official statement, a spokesperson said this is a new and comfortable way of sharing on Threads.
The company also did not reveal whether this test is limited by region or who can enable these posts.
App analyst Alessandro Paluzzi posted a temporary post recently and showed that when you tap the reply button, you can see the time left before the post is deleted.
Threads also displays a message on top of the post, indicating that the post and all responses will disappear when the time is up.
In June, Paluzzi also first shared information about Threads developing a self-destructing post feature, with a screenshot showing a 24-hour button next to the Post button to create such posts.
Posts that self-destruct after 24 hours can assist creators in sharing content that is off-topic or unrelated to their brand.
They can also be useful for people who want to post comments about live streams, which may no longer be relevant or confusing once the event has ended.
Before Elon Musk, Twitter launched a self-destructing post format similar to Instagram Stories called Fleets in 2020, but shut it down in 2021 due to low user numbers.
If Threads rolls out the self-destructing post feature widely, it could become one of the few social networks to offer the feature.
Launched in July 2023, Threads is a social networking application developed by Meta. It allows users to write and post briefly, sharing thoughts, feelings and small news in daily life.
