According to a new report from statistics unit IDC, the global tablet market recorded an impressive growth of 20.4% compared to the same period last year, with a total of about 39.6 million devices shipped in the third quarter of 2024.
Although Apple still dominates the market with its iPad line, reaching 12.6 million products in the quarter and accounting for 31.7% market share, Apple's growth rate slowed significantly to only 1.4%.
Meanwhile, Android brands are seeing much higher growth, with Amazon being the standout with a whopping 111% year-over-year growth to 4.6 million units shipped.
Lenovo also recorded a significant growth of nearly 15%, reaching 3 million units. Huawei also had steady growth with 3.3 million products shipped.
Samsung came in second behind Apple, with 7.1 million units shipped, representing an 18.3% increase. IDC attributed the success in part to the launch of the latest Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra models, but the low-cost Galaxy Tab A9 was the main driver of Samsung's sales in "most regions."
