At the September 9 event, Apple is expected to update all of its Apple Watch models, including the Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Series 10, and Apple Watch Ultra 3.
While much of the attention will be on the Series 10's slimmer design and larger display, Bloomberg reports that the other big new feature of the watches will be sleep apnea detection.
Sleep apnea detection on the Apple Watch has been in the works for a while, but it’s unclear whether Apple plans to release the feature this year.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says the feature will be integrated, which could be a major highlight of both the Series 10 and Ultra 3. The watches will be able to detect sleep apnea and recommend that users see a doctor for further advice.
This is similar to how current watch models can alert users to irregular heartbeat, low heart rate, low blood oxygen levels, and other health conditions.
Gurman said Apple will announce the feature at its upcoming event, but it may not be available immediately when new products are launched.
While the necessary hardware is already in place, the feature will likely be enabled via a future watchOS software update.
