The program "Supporting digital transformation for businesses in Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2024-2025" was just announced on the morning of October 15, with the coordination and support of the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center, Ho Chi Minh City Business Association (HUBA), Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association and Viettel Ho Chi Minh City.
“HCMC has made a big change in digital transformation. According to the ranking of the Ministry of Information and Communications, HCMC has continuously increased in rank, from 5th in 2021 to 2nd in 2024. According to the United Nations' assessment of digital transformation city rankings, HCMC has increased from 48th/86 in 2021 to 52nd/152 in 2024, an increase of 58.8% in value,” said Mr. Lam Dinh Thang - Director of the Department of Information and Communications of HCMC in the opening speech.
Mr. Lam Dinh Thang emphasized that digital transformation is very important for the development of Ho Chi Minh City's digital economy. Currently, the proportion of digital economy accounts for 21.5% of Ho Chi Minh City's GRDP (total product in the area). "According to the orientation, digital economy will be the driving force for Ho Chi Minh City's economy in the next 5 years and Ho Chi Minh City is looking for every solution to promote the development of digital economy", Mr. Thang emphasized.
Mr. Lam Dinh Thang further analyzed that in the digital economy, there are two main areas: core digital economy and pervasive digital economy. Regarding the core digital economy, Ho Chi Minh City will issue policies to attract investors in information technology; build data centers; build new centralized technology centers; and invest in the high-tech sector.
With the spread of the digital economy, Ho Chi Minh City pays great attention to digital transformation for businesses. “Ho Chi Minh City has more than 300,000 businesses, of which 95% are small and medium-sized enterprises. The growth of Ho Chi Minh City’s digital economy will have a very important role for this group of businesses,” Mr. Thang emphasized.
With the role and importance of enterprises in the development of Ho Chi Minh City's digital economy, Mr. Lam Dinh Thang highly appreciated the program to support digital transformation for enterprises, with Viettel's digital office solution - CODX. He hopes that with the ability to digitize business operations, optimize operating costs, and manage functions seamlessly, the solutions provided will help businesses transform successfully.
“The Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City is committed to accompanying this program, coordinating with associations and digital technology units to promote digital transformation for businesses, develop the digital economy of Ho Chi Minh City, and achieve the set goals,” Mr. Lam Dinh Thang concluded.
At the event, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hung, Permanent Vice President of HUBA emphasized that the current big challenge for businesses is how to transform digitally while still maintaining customer relationships, change production processes while still maintaining business management.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hung emphasized that HUBA will widely inform members, establish contact points... so that the support program can be implemented most effectively.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, General Secretary of HCA, hopes that leaders of districts, Thu Duc city, and businesses in these places will accompany HCA as well as other units to effectively carry out digital transformation.
According to him, this support program is part of the Action Month in response to the National Digital Transformation Day 2024.
