According to DuckDuckGo, this feature was rolled out after many users reported that AI-generated images could be a problem when they wanted to find real content.
To use it, users just need to perform a search, go to the Images tab and select the "AI images" section in the drop-down menu. Here, you can choose Here (show) or n (hide) of the image created by AI.
In addition, you can turn this filter on in the search settings by selecting AI-Generated Images (Hide AI-Generated Images).
Even though it cannot be completely blocked, the filter can significantly reduce the number of AI-generated images. The company also revealed that it will add other filters in the future, but has not announced details.
DuckDuckGo's implementation of AI image filtering comes as users increasingly express skepticism about content created by artificial intelligence. Not only images, many text, video and audio content are also being evaluated as poor quality, reality-defects or misunderstandings, raising concerns about the spread of "AI waste" in the online environment.
DuckDuckGo is known as a search engine that respects privacy, not following users who are choosing a different direction compared to "big guys" like Google or Bing, which have not yet integrated clear AI filtering options for mass users.
This new feature not only makes it easier for users to access more authentic information but is also a step that demonstrates DuckDuckGo's commitment to maintaining search quality, especially in the digital content stage that is being " distorted" by the rapid development of generative AI technology.
