Draft new text or ask AI to edit it again
The AI writing tools introduced in iOS 18.1 are getting two big upgrades in iOS 18.2. This is great for Notes users. You can now ask the AI to draft original text based on a prompt or instruct the AI to edit text.
Apple’s tools can’t compose native text, but ChatGPT can, and it’s built right into the system. Just hit the “Compose” button and give ChatGPT a prompt, and you’ll see the text automatically generated in your notes.
And in iOS 18.2, you can describe exactly how you want Apple Intelligence to edit your notes, and it will do so.
Create images directly from text
iOS 18.2 includes a new feature in Apple Notes that appears in the copy/paste menu when you select text or tap a blank space in the app. The new button is labeled “Add to Playground.” The option in this menu lets you do two things:
You can select any text in a note, tap “Add to Playground,” and then watch Apple’s AI create an original image to match your text.
Or, you can simply press the “Add to Playground” button without selecting anything and an Image Playground window will appear where you can create an image from scratch.
The resulting images will be added to your note and can be resized to your liking. And if you’re not happy with the first result, Apple will keep generating new images until you find one you like.
Image Wand takes sketching to the next level
Finally, another powerful AI imaging tool is coming to both iOS and iPadOS 18.2. It's called Image Wand.
Image Wand can do two main things: Create original images based on the context around your notes, or turn Apple Pencil sketches into beautiful illustrations.
As you can see, Apple Notes is one of the most powerful apps on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Soon, with changes in iOS 18.2, it will become a real AI tool.
