Vietnam is ready to welcome "eagles" to invest in semiconductor and AI industries

According to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Vietnam has gathered the conditions to be ready to welcome and cooperate with businesses and investors from all over the world in the fields of semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence.

Entering the world map of semiconductors and artificial intelligence

The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress affirmed the policy: Strongly develop science and technology, innovation to create breakthroughs to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy.

Sharing at the 2024 Innovation Festival, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that through expanding cooperation with prestigious semiconductor and artificial intelligence partners in the world, Vietnam has been implementing the motto "if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together", gradually accompanying partners and businesses to enter the world's semiconductor and artificial intelligence map.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that Vietnam has gathered all the conditions to be ready to welcome and cooperate with businesses and investors from all over the world in the fields of semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence.

Firstly, Vietnam has a stable political system and high political determination in promoting innovation and high-tech industries. Secondly, Vietnam has a population of more than 100 million people, is in the golden population period, has a young generation full of enthusiasm and has the ability to access science and technology and STEM fields that are highly valued.

Third, Vietnam has chosen to develop the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries based on comprehensive research from objective practices.

Fourth, Vietnam has issued a Strategy for the development of the field of artificial intelligence since 2021. On September 21, 2024, the Prime Minister issued the National Strategy for the Development of the Semiconductor Industry and the Program for Human Resources Development in the Semiconductor Industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Fifth, Vietnam has formed a large-scale semiconductor and artificial intelligence ecosystem in the region with the participation of Google, Meta, Qualcomm, Intel... and many high-tech enterprises in the electronics industry.

Sixth, Vietnam has gradually improved its investment policy and legal system to create the most favorable investment and business environment for high-tech enterprises in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Seventh, Vietnam has established a National Steering Committee for Semiconductor Industry Development headed by the Prime Minister; established the National Innovation Center (NIC) along with three high-tech parks in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, ready to welcome semiconductor investors with high incentives.

Many leading technology corporations pledge to continue supporting

The 2024 Innovation Festival not only attracts many domestic enterprises and corporations but also has the participation of global technology giants, typical of innovation. This is a testament to the rise of Vietnam on the world technology map.

Focus on developing semiconductor human resources

According to Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Vietnam is currently in the golden period of population, so it must be promoted and effectively utilized. If this labor source is not utilized, Vietnam will enter the aging population stage and fall into the state of "not rich but old". The semiconductor human resource development program is considered "the breakthrough of the breakthrough, the key of the key" so it needs to be done as soon as possible.
