Wi-Fi 7 was officially announced by the international Wi-Fi Alliance earlier this year, bringing major improvements such as lower latency and much faster data transmission speeds.
This makes Wi-Fi 7 great for 8K streaming and mixed reality devices like the Apple Vision Pro.
Essentially, Wi-Fi 7 devices can transfer more data in a shorter amount of time. This is important for streaming high-quality video. These improvements are also useful for online games and AR/VR devices with 3D content, as they typically require more bandwidth than regular content.
Currently, the maximum data transmission speed of Wi-Fi 6E is around 9 Gbps, but Wi-Fi 7 can reach speeds of up to 46 Gbps, which is 5 times faster than current generation Wi-Fi.
While last year, only the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models were upgraded to Wi-Fi 6E, this year, Apple has brought Wi-Fi 7 support to all new iPhone 16 models.
The iPhone 16 series will be available for pre-order starting Friday, September 13. The new phones will be officially released on September 20.
