At WWDC 2026, Apple announced many new features for CarPlay. One of the most notable changes is supporting video viewing on car screens via AirPlay.
According to Apple, users can stream videos from applications on iPhones and transmit content to compatible car screens via AirPlay. This feature only works when the car is parked to ensure traffic safety.
Apple also allows developers to build CarPlay applications that can browse and search for videos directly on the car screen. The company said this feature is suitable in situations such as waiting for relatives at the airport or while charging electric vehicles.
In addition, the new Siri version supported by artificial intelligence will also appear on CarPlay when connected to iPhone 15 Pro models and above. Siri can better understand the context and answer complex questions related to user personal information.
In addition to video viewing and Siri AI features, Apple also added some other improvements to CarPlay such as fastening audio content in the Playing interface, improving the accuracy of GPS and directions, adding a miniature audio player in the application and improving the stability of the wireless CarPlay connection.
New features require iPhone to run iOS 27. The developer test version has been released, while the public beta is expected to be released in July before official release in September.
