This information was shared by Xiaomi founder, Mr. Loi Quan, on his personal account Weibo on May 20.
The Xring O1 is the first advanced mobile chip researched and developed by Xiaomi itself. This is considered a big step forward in the technological autonomy strategy of the Chinese company, which is famous for its phones and consumer electronics products.
According to Mr. Loi Quan, the first two products equipped with the Xring O1 chip will be the Xiaomi 15S Pro phone and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra tablet. It is expected that both of these products will be introduced at a launch event on May 22.
A day earlier, Mr. Loi Quan also revealed that Xiaomi had invested 13.5 billion yuan (equivalent to about 1.87 billion USD) to develop the Xring O1 chip. At the same time, he affirmed that the company plans to spend at least 50 billion yuan (nearly 7 billion USD) more over the next 10 years for chip design.
The successful production of the Xring O1 chip marks Xiaomi's strong efforts in its journey to build core hardware capabilities, reduce dependence on external suppliers and gradually affirm its position in the semiconductor field. This is also part of a long-term strategy to increase competitiveness in the increasingly fierce technology market.
