Benefit
Ms. Manpreet Kaur Paul - nutritionist at Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, Faridabad (India) - said that the properties of cinnamon can help regulate hormones. Additionally, the antibacterial properties of cinnamon combined with the soothing effects of curd can help improve overall skin texture.
Ms. Manpreet Kaur Paul stated some benefits of combining cinnamon powder and curd including:
Regulates blood sugar levels: For women with diabetes or at risk of the disease, the combination of curd and cinnamon can be beneficial.
"Cinnamon helps lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity, while the probiotics in curd can assist in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels," said Ms Manpreet.
Improved insulin sensitivity: For women, especially those with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), improving insulin sensitivity is important.
Cinnamon may help enhance insulin sensitivity, which in turn may help control symptoms of PCOS and regulate the menstrual cycle.
Anti-inflammatory properties: Chronic inflammation can disrupt hormonal function contributing to conditions like PCOS and also helps regulate the menstrual cycle.
"Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce inflammation and support hormonal health," says Ms Manpreet.
Antioxidant properties: Cinnamon is rich in antioxidants such as polyphenols, which can protect the body from oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can negatively affect hormone production and balance.
“However, it is important to consume them in moderation and it is best to consult with a nutritionist to ensure your diet is appropriate for your personal health needs.” Ms. Manpreet noted.
Mixing cinnamon powder with curd or yogurt will be a delicious and beneficial combination. Curd provides beneficial bacteria, supports intestinal health, and helps regulate hormones.
Disadvantages
Some disadvantages when combining cinnamon powder and curd improperly include:
Not in moderation: Consuming cinnamon powder in large quantities can lead to health problems due to the presence of coumarin - a substance that can be toxic in high doses. Stick to the recommended dosage, which is usually about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day.
Allergy: Some cases may be allergic when using cinnamon powder and curd. Therefore, make sure you are not allergic to these two products.
Medical condition: If you have a medical condition or are taking medication, consult your doctor before adding cinnamon to your diet, as it may interact with certain medications and medical condition.
"For women with diabetes , try closely monitoring blood sugar levels, as cinnamon can sometimes lower blood sugar levels if combined with certain medications," says Ms. Manpreet.
