Billionaire assets skyrocket: Elon Musk is close to reaching the 500 billion USD mark
According to Forbes, Tesla shares increased by 4.3% in the first session of the week, helping CEO Elon Musk pocket an additional 10.1 billion USD, bringing his total assets to 492.3 billion USD, consolidating his position as the richest person on the planet.
Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle, ranked second with $296.4 billion (up $2.8 billion). Jeff Bezos of Amazon added $1.9 billion, reaching $256.4 billion.
Alphabet co-founderlary stage stage and Sergey Brins joint ventures have increased their assets to $3.36 billion and $218.9 billion, respectively, to $5.7 billion and $5.2 billion.
Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) increased 3.8 billion USD, reaching 217.1 billion USD.
In Europe, luxury tycoon Bernard Arnault - Chairman of LVMH - also increased the company's stock price by 4.1 billion USD to 184.2 billion USD, although the group's stock is not listed in the US.
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, benefited greatly from the increase in technology stocks, increasing 6.1 billion USD to 169.5 billion USD.
Steve Ballmer ( Microsoft) and Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway) increased by 0.8 billion USD and 0.3 billion USD, respectively, bringing their total assets to 151.5 billion USD and 149.4 billion USD.
Technology and aviation stocks lead the market
In the market, the Dow Jones index increased by 237 points (0.5%), the S&P 500 increased by 1.2%, while Nasdaq - where many technology stocks are concentrated - jumped strongly by 2.01%.
Nvidia shares increased by 4.4%, along with the increase of Alphabet, Tesla, Meta and Palantir, contributing to the market.
The airline group also recovered: American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Airlines all increased by about 2%, after many weeks of disruption due to lack of air traffic control personnel.
US Secretary of Transport Sean Duffy previously warned that the cancellation rate could increase to 20% if the government's closure continues, with up to 40% of air traffic control staff not working. Over the weekend, the US recorded more than 7,000 delayed flights and nearly 2,300 cancelled flights.
