At the Vietnam International Exhibition on Supporting Industries and Manufacturing - Vimexpo 2024 (taking place from October 17-19), Toyota Vietnam participated as a representative of enterprises in the automobile industry. Toyota's two display areas focused on connecting pure Vietnamese suppliers and orienting a multi-dimensional approach to carbon neutrality with a body-cut model of the Camry Hybrid model to clearly demonstrate the operating mechanism of Hybrid technology.
This year is the 5th consecutive year that Toyota Vietnam has participated in the exhibition. This is considered Toyota's commitment to developing production in Vietnam, increasing the localization rate and supporting the development of Vietnamese suppliers as well as the automobile industry in general and the supporting industry in particular.
Vimexpo 2024 is directed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, chaired by the Industrial Development Support Center (IDC), Department of Industry, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and organized by C.I.S Vietnam Advertising and Exhibition Company.
At the event, General Director of Toyota Vietnam - Mr. Nakano Keita - shared: "Vimexpo is an event that we always look forward to to find and connect with potential suppliers. Up to now, through the event, we have connected with more than 80 potential suppliers and some have become suppliers for Toyota Vietnam".
For Toyota Vietnam, promoting localization is not simply about increasing the number of Vietnamese suppliers, but more importantly, improving the capacity and quality of suppliers, thereby reducing production costs and increasing competitiveness. Therefore, Toyota has promoted this activity through the Cooperation Project to support domestic enterprises in the field of automobile support industry in collaboration with the Department of Industry, Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2020. This cooperation project has recorded initial promising results.
Currently, Toyota has a total of 5 domestically assembled car models and the number of Toyota suppliers has increased to 60, including 13 purely Vietnamese suppliers, bringing the total number of localized products to nearly 1,000 products of all kinds.
