Mr. Danh Lam, Head of the Red Cross Association and Head of the Elderly Association of Ward 1, Thu Ba Town, An Bien District (Kien Giang) has been associated with the Association for many years. Not only has he fulfilled the Association's tasks well, he has also contributed a lot to social security work in the locality, and has been recognized and rewarded by all levels.
Mr. Lam shared: “I am Khmer, but when I do volunteer work, I do it from the heart, without distinguishing between Kinh or Khmer, near or far. When I know where there are people in need of help, I go there and connect with sources of support.”
He not only helps with necessities and cash, but also with burial and cremation support. Currently, the funeral team he manages is always ready to help families in need who unfortunately have a funeral.

Sharing about volunteering and social work, Mr. Lam said: Volunteers must combine words with actions, if you say you must do it, and if you do it, you must do it and do it well. From building reputation to keeping credibility in the long run, he has his own principles. For difficult circumstances that need immediate help, Mr. Lam does not hesitate to spend his personal money to help. As for the funeral team that supports many difficult circumstances, many people gradually trust them, they join hands to support and contribute so that the team has funds to continue helping people in difficulty.
Mr. Danh Huong, a resident of Ward 1, is one of the cases that Mr. Lam has helped. Mr. Huong is now nearly 100 years old, living only on his children, and occasionally receiving support from Mr. Lam for necessities. Mr. Lam also promptly guided his family to complete the necessary procedures to receive monthly social security benefits and senior citizen money.
Ms. Thi Lam, Mr. Danh Huong's daughter, shared: "Mr. Lam lives very sincerely, enthusiastically helping people. Whatever paperwork or support is needed, Mr. Lam will help. Everyone loves Mr. Lam because he has helped many people overcome difficulties, united people together, and built a better life."
Mr. Huynh Van Nhan - Chairman of the Elderly Association of the town and Chairman of the Red Cross Society of the Third Town said: On average, each year, Mr. Lam mobilizes from 100 to 200 kg of rice to support the district's kitchen, 350 kg of rice to support the humanitarian situation of the Third Town Red Cross Society.

“Mr. Lam works very actively, not leaving any case unattended to help them enjoy the support policy. He supports and guides people on procedures and documents related to social protection policies for the elderly, contributing to the good work of social security in the locality,” Mr. Nhan shared.
20 years of working with the Red Cross is the amount of time Mr. Lam has helped many difficult lives. Nearly 70 years old, the officer Danh Lam still maintains his enthusiasm for helping those in need.
Mr. Lam is a shining example of the Khmer ethnic group who not only helps people but also joins hands with the locality to develop the economy and stabilize social security.
