An Giang - Border Guard has detected 21 cases, 21 ships, 52 violators in the field of seafood exploitation, and imposed administrative fines of nearly 1 billion VND.

On August 4, the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command held a conference to evaluate the results of the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing from the beginning of 2025 to present and deploy a peak period against IUU fishing.

Since the beginning of the year, the units have completed procedures to exit and enter the wharf for more than 27,000 ships and hundreds of thousands of fishermen. Thereby, all procedures, documents, and equipment when completing procedures for import and export to fishing vessels have been fully inspected; closely coordinate with the Fishing Guard, Coast Guard, and Fishing Port Management Boards in performing their duties.

The Provincial Border Guard Command directs Border control stations to strictly implement the regulations of the Border Guard Command on the scope, tasks and operations of Border control. Coordinated with the locality to focus on propaganda on combating IUU fishing for ship owners and fishermen with nearly 2,000 participants, giving 110 gifts to fishermen in difficult circumstances.

Continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the directives of the Government, relevant ministries and branches, the Ministry of National Defense, the Border Guard Command, and the People's Committee of An Giang province on the work of combating IUU fishing. Propaganda and mobilize vehicle owners and captains to commit not to violate foreign waters.

Exchange and agree with functional forces, advise local authorities to publicize violations that are handled by law on mass media to propagate, warn, and deter the consequences of illegal fishing in foreign waters.
