On September 3, although it was the National Day holiday , the Youth Union of A Dot Border Guard Station, Thua Thien Hue Provincial Border Guard organized the activity "Returning to the Village Day" - helping the border people of A Tin village (Lam Dot commune, A Luoi district) harvest the summer-autumn rice crop.
The rice fields of the people of A Tin village are nestled in the middle of the Truong Son mountain range. The harsh weather, hot and sunny during the day, and thunderstorms at night, combined with the rugged terrain, steep hills, and lack of machinery, makes harvesting rice difficult for the people.
With the spirit of "Harvesting rice as it ripens", early in the morning, 15 officers and soldiers of the A Dot Border Guard Station went to the fields of A Tin village to help people harvest rice.
In just one session, officers and soldiers helped 2 households in A Tin village, Lam Dot commune harvest nearly 5 sao of rice. In addition, officers and soldiers also supported people in threshing rice and transporting rice to their homes.
Major Vo Xuan Minh - Deputy Political Commissar of A Dot Border Guard Station said that the program "Returning to the Village Day" is one of the practical activities regularly organized by the unit's youth every Saturday and Sunday.
"During the harvest season, the unit reviews and prioritizes support for policy families and families with few workers to help people harvest rice in time, reducing damage caused by storms. Thereby, contributing to strengthening the flesh-and-blood relationship with the people, educating union members and youth about the fine traditions of the Vietnam People's Army in general, and the Border Guard tradition in particular" - Major Vo Xuan Minh said.
