On October 15, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ca Mau province said that after reviewing the province, the number of households of people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives facing housing difficulties is 1,065. Of these, 583 households need to build new houses and 482 households need to repair.
Poor households with housing difficulties are 1,354 households; of which, 1,259 households need to build new houses and 95 households need to repair. Near-poor households with housing difficulties are 1,204 households; of which, 1,039 households need to build new houses and 165 households need to repair.
In addition, the total number of households on the list of households receiving support from the national target program for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas in 2025 is 357 households. The total estimated cost for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is nearly 180.5 billion VND.

To implement this, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs will coordinate with relevant departments, branches, and units, and the People's Committees of districts and Ca Mau City to continue to review and grasp the number and needs of households facing housing difficulties. According to the plan to launch a movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Ca Mau strives to complete the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025.
Mr. Phan Mong Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province - said: Determining the construction and repair of houses for poor households, near-poor households, people affected by natural disasters, climate change and families of meritorious people is one of the top tasks in poverty reduction.
In recent times, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has actively participated in propaganda and mobilization of organizations, units, benefactors, philanthropists inside and outside the province, and overseas Vietnamese to participate in social security programs and contribute to the Fund for the Poor.
With the motto “Leave no one behind”, sustainable poverty reduction has been widely implemented and achieved practical results. The province’s poverty rate has decreased by an average of 0.8% per year, now down to 1.6%.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ril - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Phich Commune, U Minh District - said: Nguyen Phich Commune still has 414 poor households, accounting for 8.53%; the number of near-poor households is 65 households, accounting for 1.34%. The number of poor households in the area is still high compared to other communes, the need to eliminate temporary houses is very large. To eliminate poverty and stabilize the lives of households in difficult circumstances, housing support is a prerequisite. Therefore, every year, in addition to utilizing resources from national target programs, the commune also mobilizes support to build new houses, creating solid housing for beneficiaries.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Liem - Vice Chairman of U Minh District People's Committee - said: "The goal by the end of 2025 is to eliminate 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, near-poor households, people affected by natural disasters, climate change and support meritorious families facing housing difficulties, degraded houses that need to be repaired and rebuilt in the area".
