On the morning of November 18, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha - Head of the National Steering Committee on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, chaired the 22nd meeting to assess the implementation of the peak month of combating IUU fishing nationwide.
At Hung Yen bridge, Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-IUU fishing, and leaders of relevant departments and branches attended.
In Hung Yen province, implementing the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the locality strictly implemented the peak month against IUU fishing. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee issued a thematic Directive; the Provincial People's Committee issued an Action Plan; the Department of Agriculture and Environment completed the draft Resolution to support the demolition of fishing vessels, development of aquaculture and replacement of journey monitoring equipment.

To date, the whole province has 734 fishing vessels with a distance of 6m or more registered and marked, reaching 100%. The province strictly manages 4 unqualified ships, assigning localities to monitor the anchorage area. During the reporting period, no vessels crossed the exploitation boundary or violated foreign waters.
1 ship lost connection to a journey monitoring device that was verified to be damaged, had a complete report on its location and was not fined. Operations at fishing ports are stable, with 507 ships leaving the port and 345 arriving at the port.
Tan Son and Cua Lan fishing ports continue to operate the eCDT system; some technical errors have been recommended by the province to superiors for repair. Hung Yen has not recorded any serious IUU violations or any cases of brokers illegally sending ships to exploit in foreign waters.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested ministries, branches and 21 coastal localities to resolutely deploy, closely following the progress of each task; focus on thoroughly handling all violations, absolutely not allowing illegal exploitation in foreign waters; end the situation of loss of VMS connection for more than 6 hours or 10 days without reporting.
Localities maintain 24/7 duty at fishing vessel monitoring centers, clearly assign responsibility to leaders in handling vessels that lose connection or violate. Inspection and examination of fishing ports are strengthened, ensuring that 100% of ships entering and leaving the port are controlled, complete records, exploitation logs and output are strictly managed.
