Tum Nup Pagoda celebrates the achievement of the two Ngo boat teams achieving the feat of winning the championship for 3 consecutive years

Can Tho - The two teams of Ngo boats for men and women of Tum Nup pagoda excellently defended their championship title, extending their streak of achievements for 3 consecutive years.

On November 9, the Management Board of Tum Nup Pagoda (An Ninh Commune) held a ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the two Ngo boat teams for men and women after excellently winning the championship at the Ooc Om Boc - Ngo Boat Race Festival in Can Tho City in 2025.

Attending were Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council; Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, along with leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee of the City, local authorities and athletes.

Previously, the Ngo Boat Race within the framework of the Ooc Om Boc - Ngo Boat Race Festival in Can Tho City in 2025 took place on November 4 and 5 on the Maspero canal in Soc Trang ward and Phu Loi ward, gathering 61 teams of Ngo boats for men and women from pagodas in Can Tho city and Ca Mau province.

In the women's 1,000m distance event, the Ngo boat team of Tum Nup pagoda competed prominently, surpassing their opponents to successfully defend the championship title. In the men's event of the 1,200m distance, Ngo Tum Nup 2 boat team also excellently won the championship cup for the third consecutive year.

To date, Tum Nup pagoda is the only unit with both the Ngo boat men's and women's teams to maintain a streak of 3 consecutive years (2023 - 2025) holding the championship position in the Ngo boat races at the provincial, city and regional levels.

According to the Pagoda Management Board, the above achievement is the pride of the collective of monks and Khmer people in An Ninh commune, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, serious training and high determination to compete. The victory not only has a sporting significance but also contributes to preserving and spreading the traditional cultural identity of the Khmer people.

On this occasion, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, along with many organizations, units and sponsors presented gifts to congratulate the two teams. An Ninh Commune People's Committee awarded 50 million VND to each team and rewarded 3 groups and 6 individuals with direct contributions to the achievements.
