Da Nang sets sustainable poverty reduction goals

Da Nang strives to reduce 100% of poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas with working capacity by the end of 2025.

On the morning of November 15, the People's Committee of Da Nang City organized the 2nd Conference of Ethnic Minority Delegates in 2024 with the participation of hundreds of delegates who are ethnic minorities in Da Nang.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the 2nd Conference to honor ethnic minority delegates of Da Nang City in 2024 with the theme "Ethnic groups unite, innovate, promote advantages, potentials, integrate and develop sustainably" aims to summarize and evaluate the results of the 1st Conference in 2019, draw practical lessons in implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies of the Party and State in Da Nang City. Organize to honor, commend and reward outstanding collectives and individuals in implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies in the period of 2019 - 2024. And continue to affirm the consistent policy of our Party and State on ethnic work and great national unity, demonstrating the attention of the Party and State to ethnic minorities.

Currently, Da Nang has 31 ethnic minorities with about 5,880 people, accounting for nearly 0.46% of the city's population. Of which, the Chinese ethnic group accounts for the highest proportion with about 46.8% (2,753 people). Therefore, by 2029, Da Nang City strives for the average income per capita of ethnic minorities to reach 65 million/person/year. Reduce 100% of poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas with working capacity according to the multidimensional poverty standard by the end of 2025. Strive for 100% of dead-end roads and hamlets to be concreted. 100% of households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas use clean water for daily life. 100% of ethnic minority households are eligible to access preferential loans for economic development, production, housing improvement, etc. The rate of trained ethnic minority workers is over 70%, workers with degrees and certificates is from 30%.
