On June 27, in Phu Huu village, Hoa Thinh commune, Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 100 community activity houses combined with flood prevention in villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods in the province, belonging to phase 1 of the program, according to Dak Lak e-Portal.
According to the Department of Construction, Dak Lak is a locality heavily affected by natural disasters, especially after storm No. 13 and floods in November 2025. Implementing Plan No. 226/KH-UBND dated June 2, 2026, the province invested in building 100 community houses combined with flood shelters in 27 communes and wards with a total capital of 170.964 billion VND.
The project includes 4 sub-projects implemented by the Tuy Hoa Construction Investment Project Management Boards, 53 houses, Tuy An 32 houses, Ea Kar 9 houses and Buon Ma Thuot 6 houses.
The works are designed according to the scale of grade III houses, including 2 floors with 3 models suitable for local cultural identity. After completion, the works will both serve meetings and regular cultural activities, and can receive more than 200 people evacuated in case of natural disasters and floods, meeting rescue and relief requirements at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Dao My said that the locality has a large area, many areas are frequently affected by floods and extreme weather. In recent years, natural disasters have caused great damage to people and property, so investing in a community activity house system combined with flood prevention is an urgent requirement, contributing to improving disaster response capacity right from the grassroots level.
According to the Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, the goal is to complete all 100 projects before September 15, 2026 to be put into use before this year's rainy and storm season. He requested investors and contractors to focus manpower and resources, organize scientific construction, ensure quality, progress, aesthetics, and prevent waste and delays.
The Department of Construction is assigned to monitor, urge, and promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to remove arising difficulties. Local authorities coordinate with investors to ensure security and order, creating favorable conditions for the construction process.
On this occasion, central and provincial leaders presented 20 gifts, including 10 gifts from the Central Government and 10 gifts from the province, to poor households and typical households in Hoa Thinh commune.
Present at the groundbreaking ceremony from early morning, Ms. Vo Thi Bong (74 years old), a resident of Hoa Thinh commune, expressed her joy that the locality has more community activity houses combined with flood shelters. According to her, the project will help people feel more secure because there is a safe shelter when natural disasters occur.
