Recently, Mr. Lo Van Cuong - Standing Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has just signed a decision to temporarily use more than 1.7 hectares of forest to serve the temporary construction of the 220kV 500kV Son La - Dien Bien power line project (section passing through Dien Bien province).
In which, the majority is natural forest with nearly 1.6 hectares, and the rest is more than 0.16 hectares of planted forest.
This area is distributed in many communes and wards including: Quai To, Tuan Giao, Chieng Sinh, Bung Lao, Na Tau, Muong Phang and Dien Bien Phu ward.
The investor of the temporary forest use project is the Project Management Board of Northern Power Projects (representative of the Project Investor).
To have land for construction roads and material gathering yards, the project will apply the white exploitation method (cutting down all trees located on the boundary of the licensed area).
All timber and forest plants other than timber exploited for exploitation will be auctioned off according to the provisions of law. The cost of implementing this exploitation will be guaranteed by the investor from the project capital source.
The time to plant and care for replanted forests will last for 5 years (from 2026 to 2030). The funding for replanting forests is nearly 250 million VND, from the funding for replanting forests allocated from the project implementation fund.
