Gia Lai handles epidemics, especially in border areas

Gia Lai Many epidemics are appearing at the same time, posing a potential risk to public health if not isolated and treated promptly.

On August 13, according to statistics from the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health, from July 30 to August 5, 2025, the whole province recorded 85 cases of dengue fever (an increase of 4 cases compared to the previous week), 14 cases of suspected measles, 15 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease and 1 case of rabies death.

Accumulated from the beginning of the year, Gia Lai has 1,321 cases of dengue fever; 4,107 suspected measles cases (594 positive cases); 483 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease and 6 deaths from rabies. Some new dengue fever outbreaks have appeared in Phu Thien, Chu Prong, Ia Hiao communes, showing the risk of further spread.

The leaders of the Department of Health requested affiliated units to drastically implement preventive measures, especially for infectious diseases. The provincial Center for Disease Control is contained, thoroughly handling outbreaks as soon as they are detected; strengthening disease monitoring, border health quarantine; speeding up the expansion of vaccination, ensuring coverage rates over 95%.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Health to promptly rearrange health stations to suit the actual situation. For disadvantaged areas, remote areas, it is necessary to invest in health stations that are qualified for initial treatment when people access them.

In addition, it is necessary to allocate a public and transparent budget, prioritizing remote areas, areas with special difficulties to ensure medical examination and treatment, protect people's health and effectively prevent epidemics.
