Accordingly, the mid-term survey aims to collect information on population and housing as a basis for assessing the implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Plan for the 2021-2025 period; developing policies and planning population and housing to serve the formulation of the Socio-Economic Development Plan for the 2026-2030 period; and monitoring the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to which the Vietnamese Government has committed.
The survey also aims to provide data on population size to the district level 5 years after the 2019 Population and Housing Census; serve as a basis for reviewing and adjusting annual population data for the 2020-2024 period; update the population and housing data warehouse managed by the General Statistics Office to serve research, analysis and forecasting of population and housing development between two censuses nationwide and in each locality; and meet international comparison requirements.
The survey subjects include: Households (including information on household housing); actual permanent population of households. The survey time is from 0:00 on April 1, 2024 to April 30, 2024.
According to the City Statistics Office, the 2024 Intercensal Population and Housing Census uses a face-to-face interview method. Enumerators visit each household to ask information providers and record all answers on an electronic questionnaire designed on a smart mobile device (CAPI).
The 2024 Intercensal Population and Housing Census will collect information on seven main areas, including demographic information of household members; information on migration; information on education; information on marriage; information on birth histories of females aged 10-49; information on deaths in the household; information on housing and living conditions of the household. The full survey results will be published in December 2024.
This is the second time the Statistics Department has organized a mid-term population and housing census and the first time it has collected information from questionnaires for foreigners residing permanently in Vietnam.
