The Border Guard Command of An Giang province said that, up to this point, agencies and units in the force have completed all preparations, ready to coordinate with local authorities and forces to ensure security and safety for the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026–2031 term in the border area.
Accordingly, Border Guard stations on the border line have proactively developed plans, closely coordinated with Party committees, local authorities, police, military forces and departments, branches, and mass organizations to strengthen grasping the local situation, promptly detect and handle arising problems, and not be passive or surprised in any situation.
Along with that, the Provincial Border Guard force promotes propaganda and mobilization of people in border areas to raise awareness, actively participate in elections, and fully implement the rights and obligations of citizens. Through focused propaganda sessions, activities of border self-management groups, landmarks, safe boat groups..., officers and soldiers have contributed to helping people understand the meaning and importance of the election, thereby proactively participating in the great festival of the whole people.
In parallel with propaganda work, units strengthen patrols, inspections, and strict management of border areas, border gates, trails, and open paths; proactively fight against and prevent crimes, smuggling, trade fraud, illegal entry and exit,... contributing to maintaining the stability of political security and social order and safety in the area.
In this election, the Border Guard Command of An Giang province has two candidates participating in the election. Among them, Colonel Pham Van Thang, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command, Commander of the Border Guard Command of the province is a candidate for National Assembly Deputy of the XVI term in constituency No. 1, including Rach Gia ward and two special zones Tho Chau, Phu Quoc. Colonel Nguyen Van Hiep, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Political Commissar of the Border Guard Command of the province is a candidate for the People's Council of the province for the term 2026 – 2031 in constituency No. 5, including Khanh Binh, Nhon Hoi, Phu Huu and Vinh Xuong communes.
