On April 22, at Kim Thanh International Border Gate (Lao Cai ward), the border guard forces of Vietnam and China held regular talks in the first quarter of 2026, agreeing on many important solutions to modernize border gate management and promote goods circulation.
At the working session, the delegation of 4 Border Guard Stations including: Lao Cai International Border Gate, Bat Xat, Muong Khuong, Pha Long (Vietnam) and Ha Khau Border Gate Immigration Checkpoint (China) jointly assessed the results of coordination in border management, entry and exit control and combating transnational crime.

The two sides affirmed that close coordination in the past time has maintained security and order, creating favorable conditions for trade activities between the two countries.
Stepping into the second quarter of 2026, the two sides agreed to improve customs clearance efficiency by scientific vehicle management measures, ensuring that prolonged congestion does not occur on Kim Thanh bridge.
In particular, the functional forces of the two sides will strengthen professional exchanges on recognizing fake papers, and at the same time resolutely prevent law violations right from the grassroots level in the spirit of "sentimental, reasonable, and civilized".

An important highlight in the talks was the commitment to fully support the construction of a bridge across the border river of Ba Sai - Bat Xat.
The two sides will closely supervise the construction unit to ensure strict implementation of the Agreement on land border management and protection, aiming to make the Lao Cai - Ha Khau border gate pair a model for border gate cooperation on the entire Vietnam - China border line.

Also within the framework of the program, based on the objective voting results of passengers and border residents, the two sides awarded the title "Ambassador of Friendship Quarter I/2026" to Major Nguyen Viet Dung (Deputy Head of Border Guard Station at International Border Gate No. 2 Kim Thanh) and Level 3 Police officer Dinh Van Bot (Ha Khau Border Gate Inspection Station).
This is a timely recognition for border guards who have dedicated and professional service attitudes, contributing to tightening the solidarity and friendship between the border protection forces of the two countries.
