On the morning of August 6, in Vinh City, the Forum "Connecting the production and consumption of agricultural products of the North Central provinces ( pineapple, tea, fruit trees with bags)" took place with the participation of many delegates from central, local agencies, international organizations and enterprises.
The forum was organized by the Vietnam gardening Association, the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Nghe An province, under the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

The forum focused on discussing solutions to build a production - consumption chain of products with advantages in the North Central region such as pineapple, tea, and baguettes; from raw materials to preliminary processing, deep processing and expanding markets. This is a practical activity in response to the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
Currently, the whole region has more than 6,800 hectares of pineapple trees, with an output of nearly 133,000 tons; trees with sawdust 11,500 hectares, with an output of about 130,000 tons; tea trees 10,300 hectares, with an equivalent output. These areas are mainly concentrated in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue.
Among the effective models, Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (DOVECO) is recognized as a typical example of pineapple production linkage in Ha Tinh. After a year of implementation, the pineapple growing area has reached more than 600 hectares, the yield is from 5070 tons/ha, the average income is 500700 million VND/ha. DOVECO expects the North Central region to become the leading pineapple production and processing center in the country, with the potential to develop up to 70,000 hectares of raw material areas.
However, many "bottlenecks" still exist, such as negative impacts from climate change, shortage of logistics infrastructure, difficulties in standardizing raw material areas and fluctuations in domestic and foreign markets. Therefore, the forum has recorded many opinions from development organizations, research institutes, experts, businesses and cooperatives in the region.
Solutions such as enhancing deep processing, applying digital transformation, improving trade promotion capacity, perfecting the logistics system... are considered key steps to increase value, towards a green, modern and sustainable agriculture in the North Central region.

At the event, the forum organizers received support of 25 tons of rice and 2 tons of corn seeds sent to people in flooded areas of Nghe An to help them soon stabilize their lives and restore production.
