In recent years, the functional sector has paid attention to investing in facilities and teaching and learning equipment. The rate of mobilizing 5-year-old children to kindergarten is 99.98%. The rate of primary school students is 99.75%...
At the dialogue with more than 200 students, they expressed concern about traffic safety, dirty food, drowning accidents and sexual abuse of children in mountainous areas, hoping that the government would have better solutions to protect children.
A representative of Gia Lai Provincial Police said that the units organized the reception of 100% of denunciations, crime reports, and recommendations to prosecute for the crime of child abuse, especially child sexual abuse.
The police promptly deployed to prevent, investigate and prepare records to handle 56 cases of child abuse (with 89 subjects and 57 children being abused). The provincial Department of Education and Training guides the construction of a safe living environment and implements measures to prevent and combat accidents and injuries for children, especially drowning accidents.
However, resources allocated for child protection and care in many localities are still limited. In remote areas, facilities are not guaranteed to have diverse and rich entertainment areas.
The human resources in charge of school health work at the provincial and district levels are still thin. Many schools lack qualified medical staff, so they face many difficulties in taking care of students' health.
Mr. Vu Tien Anh - Chief of Office of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said: "Investment costs for accident and injury prevention for children in localities are still limited. Many individuals and units are still irresponsible in managing lakes, dams, ponds... leading to the death of children from drowning...".
