On the afternoon of January 4, A Vao Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Province Border Guard) confirmed that it had promptly assisted a pregnant woman who went into labor and gave birth in the unit's vehicle while on the way to the emergency room.
Previously, at 5:30 a.m. the same day, relatives of Ms. Ho Thi Lec (born in 1984, residing in Pa Ling Village, A Vao Commune, Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province) came to the Military Medical Station - A Vao Border Guard Station for support because Ms. Lec was in labor.
Upon receiving the news, Major Tran Minh Vu - an employee of the Military and Civilian Medical Station, went to Mrs. Lec's house to examine her.
Determining that the mother was having difficulty giving birth and was in poor health, the Military and Civilian Medical Station did not have enough facilities, so they requested to transfer her to a higher level.
Because Pa Ling is far from the A Vao Commune Health Station, the A Vao Border Guard Station mobilized its vehicle to transport the pregnant woman to a higher level. Military doctor Vu was on duty at the station, so the unit proactively contacted the mobile A Vao Commune Health Officer to assist along the way.
While traveling to km10, about 17km from Ta Rut Medical Center 2, the woman went into labor.
At that time, there was no one nearby, and the A Vao Commune Health Officer had not arrived yet, so Captain Le Van Thang - driver of A Vao Border Guard Station and the mother's husband assisted in the delivery.
The birth process was safe, the baby girl weighed 3.5kg, the health of mother and baby is stable.
