Quang Binh mobilizes resources to eliminate 948 temporary and dilapidated houses

Quang Binh - The province mobilizes social resources, speeds up the construction of new houses, repairs 948 temporary and dilapidated houses, helping poor households have solid and safe housing.

Joining hands for the poor

In Phong Nha town (Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province), there are currently 22 poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties. To support these households, the town has established a steering committee, a working group and called for the cooperation of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, unions and the whole society. Thanks to that, after only 10 days of mobilization, the town has received more than 100 million VND in support from benefactory organizations and individuals.

Phong Nha Town Party Secretary Ho Ngoc Thanh said that, along with support from superiors, the town has written a letter calling for socialization to help poor households have more funds to repair and build new houses. Up to now, the town has started construction of 2 new houses, repaired 3 houses and it is expected that in the second lunar month, 7 new houses will continue to be deployed and the remaining 10 houses will be repaired.

In Thanh Trach commune, there are currently 4 families living in temporary and dilapidated houses and 3 families with meritorious services that need support to build new and repair houses. In order to mobilize resources, the commune has organized an art program to celebrate the Party, celebrate Spring and call for donations, collecting 120 million VND to support disadvantaged households.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Trach commune said that after mobilizing support sources from organizations and individuals, the commune had a meeting to discuss and allocate funds to promptly support households. Thanks to that, each newly built household is supported with more than 100 million VND, while the repair households receive 40-50 million VND.

According to statistics from Bo Trach district, the whole district currently has 187 poor and near-poor households in need of housing support. To date, the mobilized funding is about 3 billion VND, helping 131 households to start construction and complete the project. The district is striving to start construction by March 1, 2025.

Chairman of Bo Trach District People's Committee Hoang Minh Thai affirmed that eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is not only a social security program but also a widespread movement with profound humanitarian significance. The district will continue to direct strongly to ensure completion on schedule.

The determination of the whole province

At the recent meeting of the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in Quang Binh province, Secretary of the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang emphasized that 2025 is an important time to promote socio-economic development. In particular, the housing support program for poor households is a key task, contributing to the implementation of the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.

According to the report, as of February 18, 2025, the whole province has started construction of 605 houses, of which 342 were newly built and 263 were repaired. 56 houses have been completed, of which 15 are newly built and 41 have been renovated. However, there are still 948 households that need support in the coming time.

The Provincial People's Committee has allocated more than 71 billion VND to localities and mobilized over 1.28 billion VND from socialized sources. The program not only helps people have solid houses but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and responsibility of the entire political system and people in the province.

The Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses of Quang Binh province requires departments, branches, sectors and localities to continue to promote propaganda, mobilize resources and implement the program according to a specific roadmap. Districts and towns are also encouraged to launch a peak emulation period to speed up progress.

The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Binh is not only a housing support activity but also affirms the spirit of mutual love and support, determined to build a more stable and better life for people in the province.
