Consecutive dismantling of major projects
Quang Tri province is considered a "hot spot" for drug crimes in the Central region because it has a long border, many openings and trails. In recent times, the Border Guard and the Provincial Police have continuously achieved many feats, demonstrating their determination in fighting this especially dangerous crime.
On October 5, 2025, in Dan Hoa commune, the Professional Affairs Department of the Quang Tri Border Guard in coordination with the Cha Lo International Border Guard Station arrested 2 Laotian subjects transporting 500kg of synthetic drugs. This is one of 15 major projects that have been busted recently, arresting 26 subjects, seizing nearly 1 ton of various drugs.
Captain Nguyen Van Sy - Deputy Station Station Station Station Station of Cha Lo International Border Gate said that the subjects were very reckless, often changing their tricks, even using hot weapons to fight back when discovered.
We always proactively grasp the situation, promptly coordinate between forces to completely destroy the networks, prevent drugs from entering the country from the border, said Captain Sy.
Not only on the border, but also domestically, drug crimes and evils are also complicated. On August 17, Quang Tri Provincial Police simultaneously inspected two entertainment service businesses, Victory nightclub and Nonstop restaurant (Nam Dong Ha ward), discovering hundreds of people illegally using drugs. The test results showed that 145 people tested positive, of which 52 people were prosecuted for organizing illegal use of drugs.
According to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police, drug use is trending rapidly, mainly in the age group from 16 to under 30, accounting for about 60 - 70%.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, the police force in the whole province has detected 310 cases, arrested 613 subjects, seized more than 90kg of various drugs and nearly 500,000 synthetic drug pills, a number that shows the complexity and sophistication of drug crimes in the area.
Tightening border routes, preventing dangers from afar
Quang Tri has more than 400km of border with many complex terrains. Therefore, prevention and control work is always identified as a key task, not allowing drugs to be smuggled deep into the country.
In the coming time, the police will strengthen inspection and supervision of conditional business establishments such as karaoke bars, hotels, motels, where there is a potential risk of social evils. At the same time, closely coordinate with the Border Guard, Customs and local authorities to detect, combat and destroy networks and gathering places for illegal storage, trading and use of drugs.
The Quang Tri Border Guard is also increasing patrols and controls along the Vietnam - Laos border; coordinating with the functional forces of Laos to exchange information and promptly remove major lines. Many mobile checkpoints are deployed in key areas such as Lao Bao, La Lay, Cha Lo International Border Gate to prevent drugs from a distance.
With close coordination between the Border Guard, Police, Customs and authorities at all levels, Quang Tri province is gradually tightening border management, stepping up prevention from the root, determined not to let the area become a drug transit point.
The province's goal is to both maintain border security and build a safe and healthy area where "drug has no land to live", contributing to protecting a peaceful life for the people and the sustainable development of Quang Tri in the new period.
