The workshop was held with the theme "Land slide survey for the benefit of ethnic minorities in Northern Vietnam", especially "Detecting thin slides by geotechanical and geophysical methods at a landslide in Sa Pa, Lao Cai".
At the workshop, delegates listened to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Huy Giao, Vietnam University of Oil and Gas, present about the GWB project "Landquake survey for the benefit of poor ethnic minorities in Northern Vietnam".
It highlights the results of new surveys in Muong Hoa commune (Sa Pa); cooperation process between project units; training and technology transfer for cadres of localities in Lao Cai province.


Member units of the GWB project have analyzed and clarified the content of the implementation of the technique of analyzing positive and negative three-way resistance applied to the area of Sa Pa town; surveying the technical geology of the slow-slide block in Sa Pa...
In addition, delegates and scientists at home and abroad discussed and frankly pointed out the situation of landslides and flash floods; long -term effects on social security life of the people; Causes and overall solutions for prevention and remedies; Technological solutions for warning and handling of sliding slips apply to the North, Lao Cai province in general and Sa Pa town in particular.

At the workshop, the leaders of Sa Pa town hoped that experts, scientists, and departments of the province would continue to support Sa Pa in building maps warning of flooding and landslides; promote research and application to provide treatment technology solutions to minimize damage caused by flash floods and landslides in the coming time.
The workshop helped delegates better understand the landslide mechanism in the Northern region of Vietnam, including Sa Pa town.
Thereby providing more effective solutions in preventing and minimizing risks for local people. Contributing to the work of supporting early warning and response to landslides for the community.
