Soc Trang has 75 communes meeting new rural standards

Soc Trang - By the end of 2024, the whole province will have 75/80 communes meeting new rural standards (NTM).

According to the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, for the National Target Program on New Rural Construction in 2024, there will be 5 more communes meeting New Rural standards, 9 communes meeting advanced New Rural standards, 1 commune meeting model New Rural standards, and 2 districts meeting New Rural standards.

As a result, the whole province has 75/80 communes meeting the new rural standards, 29 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards, 3 communes meeting the model new rural standards, and 5 district-level units meeting the standards/completing the task of building new rural areas.

Regarding the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minority Areas, 12/24 specific targets were achieved and exceeded the planned targets.

Notably, the number of households using the national grid and other suitable power sources; ethnic minorities using hygienic water for daily use; 5-year-old kindergarten students going to school; people aged 15 and above reading and writing fluently in Mandarin, reaching 94.8-100%, etc.

Regarding the national program for sustainable poverty reduction, it is estimated that by the end of 2024, the average poverty rate will decrease by 1%, including a 2% reduction in the poverty rate of Khmer ethnic households.

In 2024, the total state budget capital to implement the 3 National Target Programs is more than 1,143 billion VND. If not including more than 219 billion VND of development investment capital (ODA) for the National Target Program on New Rural Development and the district budget counterpart capital is over 924.7 billion VND.

By the end of October 2024, more than 482.7/924.7 billion VND had been disbursed, reaching 52.20% of the plan. It is estimated that by January 31, 2025, the disbursement of capital for the 3 Programs will be about 878.5/924.7 billion VND, reaching 95% of the assigned capital plan.
