On the morning of October 23, the working group of Military Region 5 led by Colonel Cao Van Muoi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Military Region, inspected the work of storm prevention, control and landslide recovery in Da Nang city.
Accompanying him were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung and Colonel Tran Huu Ich, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Commander of the City Military Command.
Due to the impact of storm No. 12, the coastal area of Tan Thanh block, Hoi An Tay ward suffered a landslide of more than 100m long, waves hitting nearly 30m deep into the shore, endangering coastal residential areas.
In the context of prolonged rain and wind, military, border guards and militia forces were mobilized, using materials, mechanical means and sandbags to build embankments, prevent waves, and protect the safety of people and property.
Through site inspection, the Military Region and the city's leaders determined that there were still many points in the area at high risk of landslides, stretching hundreds of meters.

Colonel Cao Van Muoi, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5, requested local authorities to put up warning signs, stretch ropes, and barriers to prevent people and tourists from accessing dangerous areas; at the same time, direct the Da Nang City Military Command to continue assigning forces to coordinate with functional agencies to be on duty 24/24 hours, monitor developments, deploy timely response and remedial measures, and limit damage.
The working group also visited the Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital and Dai Loc commune, where flooding often occurs during heavy rains. Currently, households in vulnerable areas have been supported by armed forces to evacuate to safety.
Regarding the landslide at the Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital, the Military Region requested hospitals and localities to proactively review and evacuate people and patients from areas at risk of landslides; at the same time, in the long term, there needs to be a plan to reinforce and build a drainage system and solid works, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and medical facilities when there are heavy storms.
