Concentrate many resources to develop ethnic minority areas

On the afternoon of October 24, the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Dak Lak Province in 2024 held a preparatory session.

Attending were Mr. Nguyen Thien Van - Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, Head of the 4th Dak Lak Provincial Ethnic Minority Congress; Mr. Nguyen Kinh - Head of the Provincial Ethnic Minority Committee and 250 official delegates representing ethnic minorities in the area.

In the period of 2019 - 2024, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee issued many documents to direct the implementation of ethnic work, ethnic policies and comprehensive socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

One of the highlights in the recent period is that authorities at all levels and mass organizations have well implemented ethnic policies; developed infrastructure, eliminated hunger and reduced poverty, and built new rural areas.

Most prominently in the fields of medicine, health care and education in ethnic minority areas.

The whole province has 3.4 times the poor, near-poor, policy beneficiaries... covered by health insurance and health care.

During the implementation of Project 7 (under the National Target Program 1719), the authorities allocated 79 billion VND to invest in facilities and purchase medical equipment for a number of localities.

In the education sector alone, the province has 184,000 ethnic minority students. Implementing the National Target Program 1719, the authorities have allocated 173 billion VND to invest in infrastructure for 18 ethnic boarding and semi-boarding schools in the province.

Thereby, improving the quality of education, raising the level of students.

Mr. Nguyen Kinh - Head of Dak Lak Province's Ethnic Minorities - informed that the congress has profound and great political and social significance for ethnic minorities, gathering trust and spreading typical advanced examples.

This is also an opportunity to summarize and evaluate the implementation period of ethnic work and ethnic policies, contributing to the development of ethnic minority areas.

The event is also the beginning of a new phase with the aspiration to rise up, arousing pride, confidence, and self-reliance of ethnic minorities in the province;

Promote the strength of the great national unity bloc, ethnic minorities unite and strive to successfully carry out assigned tasks.

"Thereby, developing ethnic minority areas, shortening regional gaps, contributing to national development, and helping people live a prosperous and happy life" - Mr. Nguyen Kinh said.
