On October 1, Kenh 7 Prison (under the Department of Police Management of Prisons, Compulsory Education Facilities, and Reformatory Schools, Ministry of Public Security), stationed in Kien Giang province, held a ceremony to announce the President's amnesty decision for 26 prisoners serving their sentences, including those who have served long sentences.
At the announcement ceremony of the amnesty decision, Colonel Le The Ty - Warden of Channel 7 Prison emphasized that this is not only a reduction of punishment, but also an encouragement and motivation for prisoners who have made efforts to reform well, followed the regulations correctly and had a spirit of rehabilitation.
Over the past time, Kenh 7 Prison has always focused on educating and reforming prisoners, helping them realize their mistakes and have the right direction when returning to society. In particular, the prisoners granted amnesty this time have all undergone a strict inspection and evaluation process regarding their progress in reform and awareness of law compliance.
The success of amnesty work depends largely on educating and guiding prisoners to understand the value of a free life and their responsibilities to family and society.

Among the 26 prisoners pardoned this year, there are those who have served long sentences. This shows that the State does not forget anyone, regardless of whether they have committed a serious or minor crime, as long as they are determined to change and improve themselves.
Prisoner T.V.M (born in 1985, residing in Giong Rieng district, Kien Giang province) is one of 26 prisoners serving sentences at Kenh 7 Prison proposed for amnesty this time. Sentenced to 13 years in prison for illegally transporting explosives, by the date of amnesty, Mr. M had served nearly 9 years in prison.
Mr. M shared: “The time serving my sentence was a great lesson in my life. I tried to comply with the rehabilitation program well so that I could enjoy lenient policies and return to my family and society soon. When I found out that I was eligible for amnesty, I was very happy because I could return to my family, relatives and work."
Since the beginning of August 2024, as soon as the President's amnesty decision was issued, Kenh 7 Prison has publicly posted the President's decision on amnesty in 2024 to 100% of prisoners serving their sentences at 2 Sub-camps. Along with that, the unit has strictly implemented the regulations in the amnesty; the decisions and conditions on amnesty in 2024 are all publicly and transparently posted; the review and consideration work ensures the right subjects, avoiding errors and negativity.
In addition, to prepare the best conditions for prisoners when they are pardoned, the Prison has organized reintegration classes, imparting legal and social knowledge to prisoners and disseminating current events and the country's socio-economic situation, so that when they return they will not be confused.
In addition, the unit propagates and educates them to have a correct awareness of the lenient and humane policies of the Party and State so that they can return to their hometowns to live honestly and not re-offend; equips them with basic knowledge and life skills so that when they are pardoned and return to the community, they can eliminate their inferiority complex and strive to become useful citizens for their families and society.
