From June 2 to 3, in Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang), the Navy Region 5 Party Committee held the 13th Congress of Delegates for the 2025 - 2030 term.
Over the past term, the Navy Region 5 Party Committee has promoted its leadership and direction role, comprehensively completing assigned political tasks. Notably, strictly maintain combat readiness, patrol, checkpoint, firmly protect the sovereignty of the Southwest sea and islands; effectively handle situations, do not be passive or surprised.
Training work has been comprehensively innovated, closely following the motto "basic, practical, and solid", closely combining military training with political education.
Defense foreign affairs activities continue to be promoted. The region has developed and strictly implemented the Regulations on coordination with the Royal Thai Navy and the Royal Cambodian Navy; effectively maintained communication channels, especially hotlines. Timely exchange, share information, coordinate to effectively carry out joint patrolling activities, search and rescue, combat illegal fishing and effectively handle situations arising at sea.
Logistics and technical work has been deployed synchronously and systematically, meeting regular requirements and emergency tasks, contributing to ensuring life, taking care of soldiers' health, maintaining technical coefficients and improving combat readiness of the unit in special conditions in islands and remote sea areas.
Party building work has many innovations, the leadership capacity and fighting strength of party organizations are increasingly improved.
In addition to military and defense tasks, Naval Region 5 actively carries out mass mobilization work, military rear policies and propaganda for seas and islands. The programs "Float as a support for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea" and "Float sponsoring fishermen" have been effectively implemented.
During his term, the Region organized the rescue and towing of 33 ships, supported the construction of 6 gratitude houses and supplies at sea 27 times, provided more than 3 million liters of fresh water to fishermen, presented more than 781 gifts to policy families and soldiers in difficult circumstances, and contributed more than 2 billion VND to the "Thanh An Than" Fund.
Promoting the achieved results, the congress determined the direction throughout the 2025 - 2030 term to build a clean and strong Party Committee; Navy Region 5 is revolutionary, disciplined, elite, modern, and a core in managing and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the Southwest sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Major General Nguyen An Phong - Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Navy praised the efforts, efforts and comprehensive results that the Navy Region 5 Party Committee has achieved in the past term. He requested Party committees and commanders at all levels to focus on thoroughly grasping the spirit of Party congresses at all levels and resolutely and synchronously implementing key tasks.
Proactively monitor and firmly grasp the situation in the sea assigned to manage, not to pass and surprise in all situations. Continuing to promote the role of working army in peacetime, truly the core force in building the national defense and "people's hearts" at sea. Regional cadres and soldiers should actively coordinate with the Party committees and local authorities to help the people to prevent, combat and overcome the consequences of natural disasters and ensure the safety of the life and property of the people, worthy of a solid fulcrum of fishermen and people in the sea and islands.
With the spirit of solidarity, democracy, discipline and development, the congress elected the Executive Committee of the Regional Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, including 15 comrades and 18 official delegates (2 alternate delegates) to attend the 14th Congress of the Navy Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.
