The 1st VTV Cup of Vietnamese Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament in 2026 takes place from August 23 to 29 at Nghia Lo ward stadium, Lao Cai province.
The tournament gathers 12 women's football teams from 9 localities across the country.
Lao Cai has 4 representatives including Nghia Lo ward, Lam Thuong commune, Vo Lao commune and Luc Yen commune.
The remaining 8 teams come from Phu Tho, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Cao Bang and Nghe An, including Van Son, Pac Ta, Muong Pon, Lam Binh, Dak Doa, Ea Pal, Nam Tuan and Quy Hop.
The tournament is organized by Vietnam Television in coordination with Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee and Vietnam Football Federation.
The tournament aims to build a sports playground with its own identity, creating opportunities for ethnic minority women to exchange, compete and introduce the unique cultural values of the community.
After nearly a week of competition, Luc Yen and Dak Doa are the last two teams in the race for the championship.
