On the morning of August 24, in Bac Lieu ward, Ca Mau province, in coordination with the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the 30th Regional Fine Arts Exhibition VIII - Mekong Delta - 2026 was opened.
The exhibition introduces 115 works by 103 authors from 5 provinces and cities including An Giang, Ca Mau, Can Tho, Dong Thap and Vinh Long. The works exploit diverse topics about the homeland, country, and people of the Mekong Delta, while expressing the exploration of content, materials and artistic language of the authors.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Ngo Vu Thang said that the Mekong Delta is rich in historical and cultural traditions, has unique nature and people, and is a rich source of inspiration for literary and artistic creation.
According to Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, for Ca Mau, the mangrove ecosystem, melaleuca forests, islands, rivers and rich community cultural life are valuable materials for artistic creation. Being selected by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association to host the 30th exhibition is an honor, and at the same time contributes to promoting the image of Ca Mau land and people to the public.
Artist Nguyen Trung Tin - Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, in charge of the Southern region - assessed the exhibition as a milestone recognizing the 30-year development journey of regional fine arts. Through the exhibitions, the team of painters has increasingly developed, the works are rich in content, diverse in materials and gradually integrated with fine arts nationwide.
At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to typical works. Two works "U Minh Forest Corner" by author Lai Lam Tung (Ca Mau) and "Ho Chi Minh Temple in Long Duc" by Phan Van Tien (Vinh Long) both won B prizes; no A prize. The Organizing Committee also awarded C prizes, consolation prizes and young author prizes.
On this occasion, the Ca Mau Provincial Union of Literary and Art Associations awarded prizes for the 1st Ca Mau Provincial Fine Arts Competition - 2026. Lai Lam Tung's work "U Minh Forest Corner" won the First Prize.
The Vietnam Fine Arts Association also awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and commemorative medals to individuals who have contributed to the cause of Vietnamese fine arts.
