Maintaining the pottery industry with technological steps
The Vinh Long terracotta pottery industry was once strongly developed in the period of 1997 - 2007, when "Vinh Long Red Pottery" reached many international markets. However, manual production is labor-consuming and expensive, causing many facilities to face difficulties.
To help the pottery industry adapt, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion (Department of Industry and Trade) deploys the Project "Enhancing the value chain of the red pottery industry in the period of 2021-2025", supporting the application of advanced machinery and equipment.
To date, the province has supported 23 facilities with a total cost of VND 2.762 billion, in 2025 alone, 10 facilities and enterprises were supported with VND 1.27 billion to invest in equipment and training in production techniques.
At Phong Van Private Enterprise (Thanh Duc Ward), the investment in large soil mixers and rotors with a total cost of 270 million VND, of which 127 million VND is from industrial promotion, helps increase productivity by double or tripled compared to before.
"Previously, manual soil mixing took a lot of effort, and the products were not uniform. Now that there are machines, productivity increases, defective goods decrease, fuel economy, environmental protection, Ms. Ho Thi Liem, owner of the facility shared.
Sau Mung Company Limited (Cai Nhum Commune) invested in a gas compressor worth 60 million VND, of which 28 million VND was supported from industrial promotion sources, helping to significantly improve production efficiency at the facility.
Ms. Huynh Kim Thuy - Director of the company, said that the air compressors help shape, spray mud, and clean about 30% faster.
" more importantly, we, the producer, are encouraged to innovate thinking, towards a green, sustainable production model," Ms. Thuy added.
Technology support - spreading red pottery brands
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dong Phuong - Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion, supporting businesses to invest in equipment brings "double benefits": both improving productivity, quality, saving energy, and improving working conditions for workers.
The important thing is to help facilities boldly innovate, access advanced technology while still preserving the traditional identity of the profession, Mr. Phuong emphasized.
"The success of the models in Phong Van and Sau Mung is becoming a driving force for many pottery facilities in the area to boldly invest and improve the production process," Mr. Phuong added.

Thanks to practical support, the flame of Vinh Long red pottery has been preserved, becoming a bright spot in the recovery of the craft village. New technology helps potters feel more confident when integrating.
