This fall, diners in Hanoi are curious about the first launch of a unique drink: milk tea with milk flower and milk flower mineral water.
This drink is highly controversial. Some people think that the name milk tea and milk flower mineral water is haunting. Because the smell of milk flower is quite strong and pungent for many people, so they do not intend to try this drink as soon as they hear the name.
Another opinion said they expect milk tea or mineral water to be infused with the strong scent of milk flowers to experience the new culinary features of Hanoi's autumn.
Nguyen Linh Nhi (19 years old, Hoan Kiem district) shared: “Actually, I was curious about these two drinks so I went to the shop to try them, but this “autumn” flavor is a bit hard to drink. For a milk tea addict like me, I am not very satisfied with this drink.”
Contrary to Nhi's opinion, Tran My (32 years old, Hanoi) found the shop's two drinks quite interesting and not as hard to drink as people said.
Tran My said she often likes to drink milk tea or traditional teas with flowers, so the aroma of this milk tea is also attractive. This is the second time she has returned to the shop this week.
Talking to Lao Dong, Le Thanh, owner of a milk tea shop with two locations on Cua Bac Street (Ba Dinh) and Ho Dac Di Street (Dong Da), said that she and her colleagues had researched for a long time and carefully to create a new drink.
“I really like the smell of milk flowers, like sipping tea and enjoying the beauty of Hanoi's autumn, so I put a lot of effort into creating these two dishes” - Le Thanh shared.
Milk tea with jasmine is a combination of two types of flowers, one is jasmine and the shop's special flavor. Milk tea uses high-quality ingredients for a richer flavor. Milk tea with jasmine is carbonated mineral water, combining salty and sweet flavors, slightly sour like drinking yogurt. The topping of this drink is milk tea pearls with a soft, chewy texture, scented with flowers.
The owner of the shop confirmed that he did not put milk flower in the drink, but only named it after “autumn love”. Every day, the shop sells about 100 to 200 cans of milk flower milk tea and milk flower mineral water.
