According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, August 23, the weather in the North will be greatly affected by storm No. 4 in the East Sea.
It is forecasted that by 10:00 AM on August 23, the storm will move in a southern direction, at a speed of about 3 km/h. The storm's center is located at about 20.5 degrees North latitude - 107.9 degrees East longitude, in the sea area north of Bach Long Vi special zone, about 115 km east of Hai Phong. The storm's intensity is maintained at level 8, gusting at level 10.
Due to the impact of the storm, from now until the end of August 24, the Northeast region, the south of Phu Tho and Thanh Hoa provinces will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 60-120mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.
In Quang Ninh and Hai Phong city areas, there will be very heavy rain with common rainfall from 150-250mm, locally over 400mm. Lang Son and Bac Ninh areas will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-200mm, locally over 300mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain intensity (>120mm/3h).
Tourists in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Lang Son, Bac Ninh and Northern regions need to proactively monitor the developments of storm No. 4, especially during sea trips, island tours and long-distance travel. Heavy rain can cause flooding, flash floods, landslides, affecting traffic and outdoor tourism activities.
