According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 24 hours, many localities in the Northwest, Phu Tho, North Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions have recorded showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain.
Rainfall measured from 7:00 to 15:00 on July 12 in some places exceeded 50mm, such as Muong Bang 1 (Son La) 86.2mm, Nuong Dam (Phu Tho) 95mm, Loc Yen (Ha Tinh) 97.2mm and Nong truong 422 (An Giang) 117.8mm.
Forecast from the evening to the night of July 12, the Northwest region, Phu Tho and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue City will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, common rainfall from 10-30mm, locally over 80mm.
In the Central Highlands and Southern regions, showers and thunderstorms appear on a large scale with common rainfall of 15-30mm, many places may have heavy to very heavy rain, rainfall exceeding 100mm.
The meteorological agency notes that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, causing danger to people and vehicles when moving outdoors.
Localized heavy rain in a short period of time also increases the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in hilly areas and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
People and tourists in areas with thunderstorms are advised to closely monitor weather forecasts, limit traffic through deeply flooded areas, spillways, slopes at risk of landslides, and proactively take measures to ensure safety for people and property.
