According to the new Hanoi weather forecast from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, convective clouds are developing strongly in Bac Ninh province and tend to move towards Hanoi.
In the afternoon and evening of June 21, thunderstorms will continue to develop, expand and cause rain; then expand to many districts of Hanoi city. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
Previously, on the morning of June 21, the inner city of Hanoi had moderate rain, heavy rain to very heavy rain, with common rainfall ranging from 30 - 50mm, some places over 70mm.
This rain is likely to cause flooding for many streets with common depths of 15 - 20cm; some streets are likely to be flooded deeper with a depth of about 20 - 40cm.
On June 21, the mountainous and midland areas of the North experienced moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places had very heavy rain. Some localities recorded heavy rainfall from 7am to 3pm including: Cuc Duong (Thai Nguyen) 131.2mm; Viet Yen (Bac Giang) 113.2mm; Tien Nguyen (Ha Giang) 106.8mm; Bac Ninh City (Bac Ninh) 101.4mm; Than Thuoc (Lai Chau) 95.6mm; Bao Ha (Lao Cai) 93.0mm; Tan Tri (Lang Son) 94.4mm.
It is forecasted that in the next 24-48 hours (from the evening of June 21 to the night of June 22), rain will continue to last in the mountainous and midland areas of the North with common rainfall from 40-100mm, some places may exceed 250mm.
Warning of the risk of local heavy rain with an intensity of over 100mm within 3 hours, with a high risk of flash floods, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
The meteorological agency warns of natural disaster risk level due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail: Level 1.
