According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a cold air mass from the North is moving south, expected to affect the weather in the North and North Central regions in the coming days.

From the night of May 9 to May 10, due to the impact of the low pressure trough being suppressed by cold air, the Northern region is likely to experience heavy rain, strong thunderstorms accompanied by the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and gusts of wind. Rainfall is generally from 30-70mm, in some places over 150mm. The mountainous area will have rain of 20-40mm, locally over 80mm.

Weather forecast for around May 10, this cold air mass will start affecting the mountainous areas of the Northeast, then spread to the entire Northeast, North Central, Northwest and some places in the Central Central region in the evening and night of May 10.

From the night of May 10, the North and North Central regions will turn cool, with some mountainous areas experiencing cold weather with the lowest temperature commonly 20-23 degrees Celsius, high mountainous areas below 18 degrees Celsius. In Hanoi, the temperature will decrease to 21-23 degrees Celsius.

On land, the wind will shift to northeast level 2-3, coastal areas level 3-4. In particular, in the Gulf of Tonkin and the northern sea area of the East Sea, from the night of May 10, the northeast wind will be strong at level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas.

From the night of May 9 to May 11, the North Central region also recorded moderate to very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 40-90mm, some places exceeding 150mm. Central Central region from the afternoon of May 10 there will be showers, thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.

Weather forecast warns of the risk of local heavy rain (>100mm/6 hours) causing flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, and industrial parks. At the same time, there is a high risk of flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides in mountainous areas.

Visitors should closely monitor weather forecasts, bring warm clothes, raincoats, anti-slip shoes and limit travel to complex terrain areas. At the same time, it is necessary to prepare a backup plan for the journey to ensure safety and proactively respond to unusual weather developments.
