“Bobochacha” is a famous dessert from Singapore, and after being introduced to our country, it has become very popular. Ms. Huong, the owner of the Bobochacha dessert shop on Cua Bac Street, said that the shop has been open for 25 years.
The restaurant is located in the common yard of the apartment complex with a few small tables and chairs. This address is deep in the alley, if you don't pay attention to the sign, it will be difficult for visitors to find it.
Currently, the shop mainly has three types of sweet soup with very simple names: black, white and mixed. Previously, they also sold fruit sweet soup. The sweet soups here mostly have a light, refreshing taste, without many complicated ingredients.
Black sweet soup is made from purple sticky rice, so it is thick, sticky, and has the characteristic aroma of rice. On top is drizzled with a little rich coconut milk.
White sweet soup is a combination of sweet potatoes, tapioca pearls, Hue taro... and thin coconut milk. When eating, diners will clearly feel the coconut milk flavor with soft tapioca pearls, plus a few pieces of soft, fatty sweet potatoes.
The tea is a combination and variation of black and white tea. The shop's tea is special in that it is always served chilled without ice.
This sweet soup shop was once famous among the 8X generation of students in Hanoi. Mr. Quang Minh Tran (40 years old) shared that this is a sweet soup shop associated with his student days.
“The sweet soup at the shop is quite small, has a light sweet taste, and is very thirst-quenching, so I can eat two bowls at once. Back then, the atmosphere here was always bustling because it was a popular snack spot for the student generation back then,” he said.
The sweet soup shop on Cua Bac Street usually opens from 2pm to 6pm every day. Each small bowl of sweet soup here costs 15,000 VND/bowl. The shop is located very close to Phan Dinh Phung Street. If you have the opportunity to pass by this romantic street to check in with Hanoi's autumn, you can stop by to enjoy bowls of bobochacha sweet soup that were once popular.
