The independent trip to Hong Kong (China) in early September was planned by Ha Hien, a young man born in 1997 (HCMC), many months in advance. However, the male tourist did not expect that this was also the time when Typhoon Yagi formed at sea and gradually strengthened as it moved inland.
Although he traveled alone, he did not feel lonely thanks to meeting many locals and new friends on the way.
Ha Hien is a 9x living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, often traveling and working domestically and internationally to serve his work as a travel blogger. This solo trip to Hong Kong is like a short break he rewards himself with in the midst of his busy schedule.
"Hong Kong was never on my list of places to go this year. After the trip to Xinjiang in June, I felt less interested and more worried and negative due to working continuously without taking time for myself. This is also my first solo trip abroad," Hien confided.
Although he had prepared everything very carefully from travel, entertainment schedule, accommodation..., when he arrived in Hong Kong (China), Ha Hien heard about Typhoon Yagi. Some tourist activities and experiences in Hong Kong were also postponed or canceled. Hien's original schedule could not be carried out. He had to adapt to the weather and change his schedule to enjoy the most.
The 9x guy who is passionate about filming videos and taking photos cannot miss the "must-see" places in the city such as Choi Hung Estate apartment building, Victoria Harbor, Monster Building, Ngong Ping village...
During the trip, Hien took the opportunity to visit Sky 100, viewing the bustling city from above before the storm arrived. That day, the sailboat cruise and the Symphony of Lights Show were canceled due to weather conditions. However, he still had quiet moments, sitting and watching the sunset peacefully by Victoria Harbor.
It was raining heavily in the evening. Although he was not sure if he could go out the next day as scheduled, Hien was still very comfortable because every day here he felt fulfilled because of the lovely chance encounters.
Before going, he was worried about whether traveling abroad alone for the first time would be safe and sad. In fact, during this trip to Hong Kong (China), the young man was surprised by the quiet moments of "talking to himself", the opportunity to open up to strangers, chatting naturally with the elderly in the apartment building, Japanese and Peruvian tourists also traveling independently in Hong Kong...
Hien's favorite feeling is listening to Hong Kong music from the 80s and 90s, sitting on the train or Ding Ding tram and watching the streets pass by the window.
After a self-guided tour, Hien realized that Hong Kong is a safe destination. The people are friendly and enthusiastic in helping tourists. The public transportation network is strong, with buses running 24/7.
"Hong Kong is worth visiting once because whether it's sunny or rainy, it's still breathtakingly beautiful," the male tourist concluded.
The best time to travel to Hong Kong (China) is from November to early January of the following year, when the weather is pleasant, cool and without storms. The rainy season usually lasts from May to September, with occasional showers. In particular, July and August are the hottest and rainiest months.
However, at any time of the year, Hong Kong has many activities and festivals for visitors to experience.
