Then Pa village is like a fairy tale at the foot of Lung Cu flagpole in Ha Giang

Not yet developed much tourism, Then Pa village (Ha Giang) retains many unique cultural and traditional features.

Then Pa village is located in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province. Located right at the foot of Dragon mountain, where Lung Cu flagpole - the northernmost point of Vietnam - is located, Then Pa not only preserves the unique traditional cultural features of the H'Mong people but also has a poetic and wild landscape.
Den Then Pa vao mot ngay nang cuoi thang 8, anh Nguyen Tran Hieu va chi Quynh Mai phai ngo ngang truoc khong khi yen binh cung nhu canh vat dep nhu truyen co tich tai ngoi lang nho nay.
Arriving at Then Pa on a sunny day at the end of August, Mr. Nguyen Tran Hieu and Ms. Quynh Mai (HCMC) were amazed by the peaceful atmosphere and fairy tale-like scenery of this small village.
“An tuong dau tien ve Then Pa la khi dung tren cot co Lung Cu nhin xuong phia ben phai, minh nhin thay mot ngoi lang nho nam ben canh ho nuoc, chinh giua co mot san da xep hinh ngoi sao. Minh va nguoi yeu quyet dinh ghe tham lang, cach chan cot co chi 2km”, anh Hieu chia se.
“The first impression of Then Pa was when I stood on Lung Cu flagpole and looked down to the right, I saw a small village next to a lake, in the middle there was a stone yard arranged in the shape of a star. We decided to visit the village, only 2km from the foot of the flagpole,” Hieu shared.
Theo anh Hieu, ngay khi vua buoc qua cong lang, anh da choang ngop vi hang cay sa moc co thu cao chot vot 5-7m cung nhung vet nang chieu vang uom, xuyen qua tan cay tao cam giac nhu vua lac vao the gioi co tich.
According to Mr. Hieu, as soon as he stepped through the village gate, he was overwhelmed by the rows of ancient 5-7m tall sa moc trees and the golden afternoon sunlight shining through the tree canopy, creating the feeling of being lost in a fairy tale world.
“Tai lang van con giu duoc net nguyen so, binh di tu phong canh den cuoc song cua nguoi dan. “The village still retains its pristine, simple features from the landscape to the lives of the people. Most of the houses here are traditional Hmong rammed earth houses with walls made of earth, roofs covered with yin-yang tiles, and walls made of stone surrounding the village. People still work and live according to traditional customs such as wearing brocade costumes, using tools made from wood and bamboo, weaving linen, raising livestock such as chickens, buffaloes, pigs…”, the male tourist said.
Ngoai ra, vi moi phat trien du lich nen Then Pa chua thu hut duoc nhieu khach den tham quan. Day vua la diem han che, vua la diem manh cua lang so voi nhung dia diem von da “quen mat” tren ban do du lich nhu lang Lo Lo Chai, ban Cat Cat…
In addition, because tourism has just been developed, Then Pa has not attracted many visitors. This is both a limitation and a strength of the village compared to familiar places on the tourist map such as Lo Lo Chai village, Du Gia...
“Khi o trong lang, chung minh cam thay khong gian thanh binh va thoi gian troi cham hon. Nguoi lon thi ban ron lam cac cong viec thuong ngay, tre con thi hon nhien chay nhay va nhin minh nhu nhung nguoi tu “vung dat khac” ghe tham”, anh Hieu chia se.
“When we were in the village, we felt the peaceful atmosphere and time passed more slowly. Adults were busy doing their daily chores, while children ran around innocently and looked at us as if we were visitors from a “different land,” Hieu shared.
Ben canh do, Then Pa la lang cong dong gom khoang chuc ho dan anh em thuoc ho Vang, song tai day nhieu the he nen nep song, nhung van hoa, phong tuc doc dao van duoc gin giu, khong he bi lai tap. Tuy nhien doi lai, du khach se khong co qua nhieu nhung lua chon ve dich vu nha hang an uong, khach san, homestay…
Besides, Then Pa is a community village consisting of about ten households of the Vang family, living here for many generations, so the lifestyle, culture and unique customs are still preserved, not mixed. However, tourists will not have many options for restaurant services, hotels, homestays, etc.
Nam du khach khang dinh Then Pa giong nhu mot lang du lich cong dong thu nho, noi nguoi dan van tiep tuc cuoc song thuong ngay, con du khach thi co co hoi trai nghiem, tham gia vao cac cong viec cung voi nguoi ban dia.
The male tourist affirmed that Then Pa is like a miniature community tourism village, where people continue their daily lives, and tourists have the opportunity to experience and participate in work with the locals.
Ve kinh nghiem du lich o Then Pa, anh Hieu cho rang du khach nen danh thoi gian o lang it nhat mot dem de thu gian va tham gia cac hoat dong cung nguoi dan nhu: det vai lanh, nhuom mau, ve hoa tiet tren vai… lam qua luu niem mang ve.
Regarding travel experience in Then Pa, Mr. Hieu said that tourists should spend at least one night in the village to relax and participate in activities with the locals such as weaving linen, dyeing, drawing patterns on fabric... as souvenirs to bring back.
Neu khong co thoi gian, nen den Then Pa vao buoi sang, ket hop tham quan cot co Lung Cu, den Lung Cu, lang Lo Lo Chai va tro ve truoc khi troi toi vi duong deo nguy hiem. Ben canh do, du khach nen tranh di vao mua mua vi duong tron truot, de gap sat lo.
If you don’t have much time, you should go to Then Pa in the morning, combine it with a visit to Lung Cu flagpole, Lung Cu temple, Lo Lo Chai village and return before dark because the pass is dangerous. Besides, you should avoid going during the rainy season because the road is slippery and prone to landslides.
