Top check-in spots for beautiful wild sunflower season in Dien Bien

From mid-November, when the weather starts to get cold, wild sunflowers bloom, turning the hillsides and roads in Dien Bien yellow.

These days, Dien Bien is in the season of wild sunflowers. From the end of October, the flowers begin to show off their brilliant yellow color, dyeing the winding roads yellow. In November, when the weather turns cold, wild sunflowers bloom, creating endless “golden carpets” on the hillsides, captivating visitors.

Wild sunflowers are also known by many other names such as chrysanthemums, mountain sunflowers, wild sunflowers... Flowers with many bright yellow petals, full pistils, flower diameter up to 10-15 cm. This is an easy-to-grow plant, growing into large bushes up to 2-3 m high.

With many years of experience in tourism and photography, Mr. Phan Thach Thanh - Dien Bien Phu City said that the best time to see flowers and take photos of wild sunflowers is 8-10am and 4-5:30pm.

“This is the most beautiful time of the day, the morning sun is moderate, not too harsh, the flowers are also blooming at their most beautiful and fresh. The moment at dusk, the gentle sunlight of the sunset is about to fall, very suitable for romantic souls” – Mr. Thanh informed.

About 10 km from the center of Dien Bien Phu city, Nam Khau Hu reservoir (Hua Thanh commune, Dien Bien district) is becoming an unmissable destination for tourists and locals during the wild sunflower season.

Under the late autumn afternoon sunlight, the brilliant yellow color of flowers from the mountain slopes spread down both sides of the road and the Nam Khau Hu lake, creating a charming natural landscape.

In addition, on the road from Dien Bien Phu City to Muong Ang District, along National Highway 279, visitors will admire the bright yellow wild sunflowers blooming on both sides of the road.

In Dien Bien province, with the diverse culture of 19 ethnic groups living together, between mid-November and early December, when wild sunflowers bloom on the hillsides, the Ha Nhi villages are also bustling to celebrate the traditional New Year. Ha Nhi girls are dressed in colorful traditional costumes.
